“Obedience is better than sacrifice” is a well known phrase but what does it mean?
It can be understood as obedience is better than giving a sacrifice (BC) in exchange for your sin or repentance.
But today I realized that obedience doesn’t keep us from having fun or “living our best life.”
Obedience is the act of following God’s instructions that were designed to protect us and keep us living abundantly and not defeated.
God is our Creator. He designed us. He knows every intricate detail, how we’re wired and our purpose.
Imagine purchasing something that came with instructions and deciding not to read it.
Your decision not to read or follow the instructions will cause you to not fully use or enjoy what you have for what it’s intended for. You’ll never see it functioning at its best.
You see, God knows exactly what He’s doing and He knows you so well.
Thus, “obedience is better than sacrifice” is extended into “obedience is better than sacrificing...
Peace of mind
Wholeness
Safety
Fruitfulness
Friendship
Marriage
Health
Joy
And so on.”
So if you’re lacking something or enduring hardship or pain, I encourage you to try being obedient to the Word of God—the Bible.
It’s not always the easiest thing to do. But God knows what you were designed to do. I want you to reach your full potential—the wonderful plan God has for your life. Will you choose Him today?
